Who we are looking for:

ASCO has a new and exciting opportunity for a Quality Performance Improvement and Grants Manager to manage a 5-year federal award from CMSS and CDC ‘Improving Adult Immunization Rates for COVID-19, Influenza, and Routine Adult Vaccinations Project’, including its administration and ensuring successful delivery of project goals while facilitating collaborative communication between project groups and managers.

Remote candidates welcome or primary location in Alexandria, VA.


What you will do:

  • Manage health system partners’ project activities, including but not limited to, managing each site’s progress through regular communication, administrative support, and facilitation of meetings
  • Provide updates and/or reports on project progress ASCO, CMSS, and CDC, including but not limited to, reporting on programmatic, contractual, financial, and compliance-related issues
  • Facilitate internal and external meetings and communications with funders, subawardees, ASCO leads, ASCO Marketing and Communications staff, and Project Sponsor.
  • Develop Standard Operating Processes (SOPs) for federal grant programs and revise as needed.
  • Travel to health system sites to gauge Quality Improvement Intervention Progress and report back to ASCO, CMSS, and CDC. Attend monthly calls with external customers (CMSS, CDC, Vaccine Project Advisory Group, etc.).
  • Collaborate with internal and external compliance experts, to receive oversight and input on compliance-related issues.
  • Strategically partner with ASCO volunteer leadership groups to ensure ASCO meets scope of work for CMSS/CDC Improving Adult Immunization Rates for COVID-19, Influenza, and Routine Adult Vaccinations Project.
  • Support the implementation of a Thematic Quality Training Program, to include coordinating with external participants and faculty/coaches/Steering Group members, internal staff and committees as well as prepare correspondence, member alerts, meeting scheduling and logistics, and developing materials and website content.
  • Manage publication of best practices, include assisting health systems with abstract and manuscript writing. Other tasks/projects related to subaward, grants, and the Quality Training Program as needed.
  • Enhance federal grant programs by recording areas for improvement and working with internal and external teams to receive critical feedback for implementation.
  • Manage grant program budget processes, including, but not limited to auditing and tracking staff hours, submitting faculty and speakers’ stipends, processing reimbursements, tracking expenses and budgets, and completing prior authorization forms for staff and non-staff.

What you will need in order to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field or equivalent years of experience
  • 5 years’ experience in project management, healthcare, research development, or related setting
  • Proven success record with high-level complicated projects

Ideal candidates will also contribute: 

  • Master’s degree in related field
  • RN or other clinician, with at least 3 years’ clinical experience
  • Certification as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, ability to obtain the certification, or possess a similar quality certification


  • Excellent time management skills with ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with tight deadlines and limited supervision
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to use independent judgment and critical thinking effectively
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, with the ability to clearly and effectively convey and receive information
  • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail 
  • Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively in teams
  • Self-managed with proven skills to use initiative and be proactive to deliver results

ADA/Physical Requirements

Fast-paced office environment with extended periods seated or standing at a desk. 

High use of computer and other office technology equipment.


5-10% Travel. Up to 20-30 days/nights annually
